Newsletter - February 2023

It’s February and we are starting to see so many beautiful signs of spring. If you look closely, you can see sprouts of new flowers coming up, buds on the trees starting to grow, and the birds and squirrels getting more active. Which also means we are getting ready for the garden season! This year we have some changes in our sign-up process such as a new start date and a really fun activity that will give our gardeners the opportunity to earn some prizes! We are also SO blessed to have our OSU Extension Master Garden, Corinne joining us again!

We cannot wait to see everyone again and we are so excited to start growing!

Grand Opening!!

May 1st, 2023

Opening Garden Party May 6th, 2023

This year we will begin planting on May 1st, 2023, so that the ground has enough time to warm up and be ready for our plants to grow big and healthy. We are starting a new process where you will be able to meet with one of our staff members to help introduce you to the garden, receive your garden passport, pick out your garden box, and plant. During the first week of May, you will get to sign up for a day and time that will work for you. You will see this option during the online sign-up process, so make sure to double check with your provider, friend, or family member to see if they can bring you on a day that works for them too before signing up.

Sign-up is completely online this year! We hope this process will make joining the garden simple and easy. If you need any help or have any questions, please reach out to us.

For individuals you can click here or visit our website to sign up.

We will also have the option for agencies to sign up for boxes. These boxes can have up to (5) individuals tending to one garden box. (Limit 2 boxes per agency) We will send out an update when this sign-up process is ready and available online.

Earn Some Prizes!!

Do you like to win prizes? Well, of course!! This year, members will have opportunity to win prizes with our new Garden Passport. Each time you visit the garden to take care of your plants, you will get to put a stamp in your passport. Each stamp you collect, will get you closer to winning a prize!

We will also have special stamps/stickers that you will only be able to get from Master Gardener, Corinne when you attend garden classes. These prizes will be worth it, so you do not want to miss out!

Attend a Board Meeting

Our board members - Emily, Cheryle, Jose, Rachel, and Shelley would like to invite you to join us once per month at our open board meetings starting in April. We want to hear from you about how we can make the garden better and more accessible. Everyone is welcome! Gardeners, providers, volunteers, family, and friends.

As a board, we understand that as neurotypical individuals, we do not know all of the things you need and what you experience in your daily life. This sentiment also applies to members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. EVERY person is important, has value, and deserves to have a voice. Please share your voice with us at our board meetings.

Day and time yet to be determined.

Please share with us which vegetables, fruits, and flowers that you wish to grow this year by sending us an email at aspiretogethernonprofit@gmail.com
